Wildlife Clubs of Kenya takes over the management of Wajee Nature Park
July 2008

In July 2008, the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya took over the management of Wajee Nature Park. Wajee Nature Park which is now know as the Mt. Kenya Avian Conservation Education Centre is a valuable facility to schools and birders.

The acquisition of Wajee Nature Park by WCK provides schools visiting the Mt. Kenya area, wildlife club members, local and international birding enthusiasts and generally people interested in nature with an opportunity for hands on and participatory experience in birding and conservation in general.

In Wajee, just like in all the other WCK hostels, groups visiting the Mt. Kenya area now have access to clean and affordable accommodation.

Membership Registration/Renewal and Conservation Education information are some of the services offered by WCK and which are now available at The Mt. Kenya Avian Conservation Education Centre. This is very convenient for schools in Mt. Kenya area as they do not have to make trips to the WCK Headquarters in Nairobi to access these services.

On the night of Mon, 24 April 2006 at about 0001h, we lost the tallest tree at Wajee Nature Park, a Mururi tree estimated to be about 350yrs.

Please send your condolences to all other trees, that have been left without a good Forest Adviser.

Please plant a tree in memory of this irreplaceable loss. The Mururi is now at “Tree Heaven”.
