| Birds Sanctuary |
|
This 22 acre park which rates a mention in the Endangered Birds List is one of the few places in the world that harbours the rare Hinde's Babbler. Over 110 species of other birds have been spotted here including guinea fowls, African wood owls (pictured right) and the Rupell’s Robin Chat (a great mimic with over 8 recorded different chants). |
| Tortoise Sanctuary | |
|
An oasis of tranquility, the park is also home to squirrels, vervet monkeys, civet cats, and the rare side stripped jackal, porcupines, hares, mongooses and bush buck.
A tortoise sanctuary hosts several leopard tortoises and the smaller more difficult to view pancake tortoise which tend to hide in the rocks. |
| Kikuyu Sanctuary | |
There is also a small museum on site which preserves traditional artefacts. |

In order to have a permanent record of the material culture of the Gikuyu people which is fast disappearing under the onslaught of modernity the management had Bomas of Kenya build a traditional homestead complete with granary, separate huts for wife (and small children) and husband.
